A new video has been recently added to the series DH in Practice in our #dariahTeach Youtube channel!
It is the first multilingual video published in #dariahTeach featuring Henk van den Heuvel, speech technologist at the Department of Language Technology, Radboud University Nijmegen, Silvia Calamai, linguist at the University of Siena, and Louise Corti, data curator at Qualidata, Essex. They describe the potential of speech recognition for opening up massive amounts of unknown audio and video data for Digital Humanities research, pointing specifically to the importance of speech to text technology, to give voice to social groups that are underrepresented in dominant textual discourses.
